A fine gold mesh chain 9.6 meter

a 23 carat gold and electrum (Electrum is a natural alloy of gold, silver and copper) mesh chain found in the Nuestra Senora de Esperanza sunk in 1658 en route from South America to Spain, 13th century, Chimu culture, Peru, South America.

The necklace was found in the wreck of the Spanish ship, the Nuestra Señora de Esperanza, which sank in the Gulf of Mexico in 1658.

The Infanta Margarita Maria is wearing a similar chain across the shoulder in Velasquez portrait painted circa 1659.
