Gabriel Lucas flower ring
A rare and heavy 18-carat gold and diamond ring for two fingers, featuring a little garden made of brilliant-cut diamonds set in platinum and little spiked gold balls as flowers, made by Gabriel Lucas. This particular ring was retailed and is signed by Cartier.
weight: 30.1 grams
Gabriel Lucas was a famous jeweller from Montreal at the end of the 1960s. Inspired by the free forms of nature, he made naturalistic and more tangible, nature-inspired jewels, like the garden ring above, although much of his work is also geometrical and architectural.
See another typical Lucas ring that resembles a skyscraper in his architectural style on the ring finger of the glorious Aretha Franklin in this photograph by Bruce Weber for Vogue. This was Franklin’s own ring; she wore it often and it appears in many photographs of her.
