gold ring with turquoise

This mid 16^th century gold ring, found in Groningen, is a fine example of Renaissance grandeur. It consists of a lively turquoise held by a box bezel with four petals decorated with enamel and floral curls, reminiscent of ancient Corinthian ornaments. The bezel is held by two volutes that form the top of the shank and the rest of the shank is engraved with small stripes, 16th century, European (registered with PAN and Archis).
