Rudolf Trudel was a notable Swiss goldsmith primarily based in Z\u00fcrich. Trudel\u2019s creations always featured high-quality materials and exquisite craftsmanship. And from 1967 Kurt Aepli started working for them.<\/p>\n
Kurt Aepli (1914-2002) \u2013 born in Switzerland \u2013 was a renowned master goldsmith, designer, and teacher. He was trained as a silversmith at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich (Kunstgewerbeschule) where he later returned to teach many goldsmiths, silversmiths, chasers and jewelry designers from 1945 to 1980. Aepli also worked and designed for Meinrad Burch-Korrodi from 1942 until 1967, where his creative potential and exceptional know-how and skills were quickly recognized: Aepli made innovative designs that got international recognition. In 1967, Trudel Juwelier acquired Meinrad Burch\u2019 firm and Aepli continued working as head designer for Rudolf Trudel who gave him complete freedom. All this besides Aepli\u2019s teaching work. Aepli also occasionally designed for other firms such as G\u00fcbelin and Patek Philippe. His designs were revolutionary for their time, questioning traditional forms and materials. Aepli used geometric stylized shapes with a playfulness twist. He was famous for his ecclesiastical designs in the 1960s and also for his jewelry and objets d\u2019art.
