Russian gold box

A rectangular two colored gold 14 carat gold cigarette box with rounded corners, the hinged lid set with a cabochon cut sapphire thumb piece, the surface chased with a reeded sunburst motif, the pink gold juxtaposed with yellow gold, which gives the box an extra three-dimensionality, St. Petersburg, 1908-1917, signed by Eduard Burchardt in Cyrillic, owner of two jewelry stores in St. Petersburg (Nevsky prospect 34 and Gorohovaya St 17). Burchardt was chairman of the Society of Jewelers, Silversmiths and Jewelry Traders of St Petersburg in, work master mark: VK.
