gold ring with a table cut diamond

An important, and very rare, 19k gold Renaissance ring of exceptional character, set with a central table-cut diamond (app. 0.9 carats). Serving as a prestigious solitaire ring for the high nobility or merchant elite, this piece features an elevated, architectural, raised box-bezel setting. Its stepped arcades are detailed with black enamel, applied to create a dramatic contrast that enhances the stone’s natural light. The slender, tapering shank features delicate chased and engraved floral scrollwork, early 17th century.
