18th century ring
A 22 carat gold bandring decorated with gold flowers and ‘diamonds’; so-called because they imitate octahedrons, one of the natural growth forms of diamonds.
This ring bears the master’s mark MR for Willem Redelaar – who worked in Amsterdam from 1763 until 1811 – the hallmark for the city of Amsterdam and the hallmark for 1797.
