Persian inspired turquoise suite

An 18-carat gold set consisting of a pair of earrings and a brooch by Fossin & Fils, the predecessor of Chaumet, made in what Chaumet later calls ‘Egyptian style’. The suite is set with small, bright, oval- cut cabochon turquoises and small table-cut rubies as well as larger, lighter, calligraphically cut turquoises that are inlaid with gold.(In mirror writing the calligraphy reads Panj-Tan, the five most important names in Shiite Islam: Mohammed, Ali, Fatimah, Hassan, and Hussain). In its original red leather case: Fossin & Fils, France, 1835, (French marked 1819-1838).
