cut steel necklace and cross

A dramatic necklace of cut steel links and a cross set with rose cut diamond-shaped studs of steel, faceted and polished, mounted on steel plates and surrounded by a cut steel decor, attached with a steel split ring. The steel work has been designed to catch the light and imitate a diamond-like brilliance. This work was extremely popular in the 18th and 19th century in France and England, ca. 1800-1810, England or France.
