gold and dendrite agate necklace
A two-tiered, 14 carat gold necklace gilded with a layer of 24 carat gold. It consists of 11 medaillions ‘en chute.’ The medaillions are beautifully mounted with flat, oval- shaped chalcedony or dendrite agates in which inclusions take the form of trees or ferns. The five medaillions that form the lower row are interspersed with five, filigree bells with moving balls. All the gold decorations, including the two chains which end in a closed- set oval dendrite clasp, are embellished with further, tiny decoration, The Netherlands, circa 1830.
