gold and rock crystal torque
An 18 carat gold torque with a pendant of carved frosted rock crystal in the shape of a flower with an aquamarine heart, signed: Stuart Devlin, London, 1970.
Australian-born Stuart Devlin began his career as a silversmith by opening a small workshop in London in 1965.
Devlin would combine technical innovation with natural forms, and in 1967, by turning his hand to creating jewellery and supporting the new design movement, he became one of Britain’s respected modern craftsmen-jewellers. In 1982 Devlin was granted the Royal Warrant of Appointment as Goldsmith and Silversmith to H.M. The Queen, for whom he made many beautiful jewels.
