gold necklace
A stunning 18-carat gold, Roman Revival style choker consisting of flat, four part links connected by rings that simulate chain mail. Usually, this is a kind of steel mesh; here, however, the links are solid at both ends with a flat triangular shape. The clasp is a special spring ring made of twisted gold wire. Hallmarked with the maker’s mark of John Brogden (1842-1885). England, mid-19th century.
