gold snake necklace with emerald and diamond

An antique 18-carat yellow gold snake necklace, in the head a pear-shaped, faceted natural Colombian emerald in a slightly bluish green color (10.6 x 8.0 mm, NEL certificate: E 2420230) set between two old-cut diamonds on each side along the length of the head, with old-cut diamonds as eyes and in the chain around the neck alternating three old cut diamonds and three emerald cut and one oval faceted natural emeralds. The entire chain consists of engraved ‘scaled’ links and, like a snake’s body, the body also decreases in thickness towards the tail. hallmarked with the ram’s head for Paris, small gold works from 1819 to 1838 and the eagle on a scale for French work from the first half of the 19th century, also hallmarked with a half French master’s mark possibly for Eugène Paul Marchand, born in 1802 in Paris, working from January 17, 1834,  among others for Fossin, Morel.
