horn poppy pendant

An Art Nouveau, carved buffalo horn pendant, in the shape of a poppy, with the original rope and three amber colored glass beads and another longer drop hanging form the bottom, signed: GIP for Georges Pierre (GIP), circa 1900, France.

George Pierre was a French designer and jewelrymaker. He specialized in horn jewelry with naturalistic designs. His workshops were merged with the workshops of his main rival, Elizabeth Bonte. They worked together creating jewelry in stylized Art Nouveau motifs from nature.
