hand seal
A gold and ivory seal in the shape of a hand. The seal has a beautifully engraved yellow gold top and bottom set with cabochon-cut turquoises and a cabochon-cut garnet, the bottom bears the initials SO. The middle section is a pointing hand of ivory – its index finger wearing a gold and diamond ring – holding a ribbed cylinder; marked ET in a rectangle, étranger French hallmark, used from 1864 in Paris for imports; England, dated: 1849.
