gold suite with coral and diamond

An 18 carat yellow gold parure set, consisting of a brooch, and a pair of earrings and two buttons. The brooch is flower shaped and set with a large round bouton shaped, cabochon cut coral, surrounded by eight round bouton shaped corals as flower leaves. Underneath, descending in size, there are five coral beads, each with an elegantly dangling, cabochon cut drop of coral with a small gold flower set with an old cut diamond in between the drop and the beads.
The earrings have the same bouton shaped coral at the top, followed by a gold reversed crescent set with old cut diamonds. Underneath dangles a slim, cabochon cut drop with an elegant gold flowercap set with old cut diamonds. The reversed crescent sometimes symbolizes Diana, goddess of the hunt, or is seen as a powerful symbol of feminine energy and strength.
The buttons are each set with a large bouton shaped round coral.
In the original box stamped with French eagle marks and a beautiful master mark M walking cat D, for Morel & Dumarchey, Auguste & Adolphe. La Fantaisie, 175 rue du Temple, France between 1861-1866.
